Re: Not just us with a tough run in
We’re more than likely to lose the next 2 and that pressure in the Southampton game will make us melt like a chocolate fire guard. Look how we collapse when someone scores against us. I agree I can see us finishing bottom rather than getting out of this.

Re: Not just us with a tough run in
I have yet to see any signs in our performances
( lack of stamina, unable to rotate squad ( causing lack of stamina), lack of pace, midfield overrun / being dominated from 60 mins or earlier most games , lack of clinical finishing when we do get clear chances and a brittle defence that looks likely to have a rickett every game)

to suggest we have any chance of surviving. At this stage I would say we look to be in with a very good chance of finishing bottom of the heap.

Could anything change that? Its possible of course and would IMO have to be a few things going for us for once, namely:
Bowen hitting the ground from the start and scoring Danny Ings style to the end of the season
Anderson returning and being able to start creating chances and / or using his pace for once.
Soucek getting better and better and becoming a real force in midfield alongside Rice.
Moyes picking Fornals over Lanzini and Moyes and dropping Haller for Antonio and Bowen assuming Bowen actually becomes effective from game one.
Moyes getting the squad fitter and improving his game management and tactics.
VAR going our way.

The last 3 or 4 seem the most unlikely. Well a lot of them do, I think we are done but would like to be proved completely wrong ( which happens on most things except most of my pessimistic West Ham predictions)

But best advice is let it go, assume the worst and hope for the best. Next few games though will be very uncomfortable viewing.

Lato, no disrespect intended, but I just laugh when I see we have a must win game.

Let's hope we benefit from the severe weather conditions which could just make Sunday's match farcical.

"If we stay injury free we should be fine"

Multilayered optimism there!

I think we're done. Tough games and a team that has mentally clocked off. Next winnable game is Southampton who are in great form then after a number of inevitable poundings we're fighting with other shitters at the bottom, all of which have more about them then our shower of cunts.

Technically we could easily stay up, realistically we're fucked.

I expect 38 points will be enough to stay up but can't see us getting more than 32-33 as we are. Still, Tottenham usually kick start our season for us, so maybe we're due an uplift.

Nah. Me neither.

The others have got Nolan and Niven.

Re: Not just us with a tough run in
From those games, we need 2 points more than Villa get, the same points as Watford and 5 points less than Norwich and we will be fine.

Re: Not just us with a tough run in
As we are unlikely to get anything in the next two away games our next home game against the Saints is massive. Its a must win game and time for some of our players to man up. Having said that I believe we can still get 41 points, which should be enough hopefully! We still hold the record for the most amount of points, 42 going down in 2002/2003 though!

I'm very excited to see Antonio, Anderson, Bowen and Haller link up. If we stay injury free we should be fine

Re: Not just us with a tough run in
Agree with those who reckon 38 might just do it.

IMO we need both Anderson & Antonio playing in all the very "winable" games at least and I still hold out hope that those two in the team will bring out the best in Haller and maybe even Lanzini.

Re: Not just us with a tough run in
Sure Noble said 5 wins before the Brighton game. Maybe that will do but can’t see 38 being enough. I fancy Bournemouth and Brighton to get another 15/16 points each. Tbh I didn’t think Brighton was in danger anyway. Think it’s out of us, Villa and Watford to join Norwich. Our problem is I can’t see us putting a run together, we need to go 3 or something unbeaten to give us some confidence.

There was me clicking on this in the hope it would make me feel better.

It doesn't. I feel much worse.

Re: Not just us with a tough run in
No way do we need 6 wins. 38 points will be enough. So 4 wins and 2 draws.

Spurs away we should get a point
Southampton at home we should get a point
Wolves at home we should get a point
Chelsea at home we should get a point

Which means we’d need 10 points from

Newcastle (a)
Burnley (h)
Norwich (a)
Watford (h)
Man U (a)
Villa (h)

Get Fabianski, Fredericks, Tomas, Anderson, Bowen, Yarmalenko and Antonio back / firing then theres no reason we couldn’t pick up 16 points from those games.

We’ve got a chance, that’s for sure.

Stowie.40 4:51 Thu Feb 6
Re: Not just us with a tough run in
It’s pretty irrelevant because by the time we ‘might’ win a game we’re likely to be about 6/7 points away from 17th. To even stand a chance we need to win 6 games ideally and unfortunately one of them need to be in the next 2 which we all know isn’t gonna be the case.

It’ll go to the last games won’t it.
And it is going to get a lot worse before we start to improve.
Squeaky bum time.
We will stay up though, I convinced!

Re: Not just us with a tough run in
On paper our next 7 fixtures are by far the toughest of the teams involved in the relegation battle. If results go the way most people would predict then we will be adrift at the bottom when those fixtures are complete.

If we are no more than 6 points adrift then I reckon we will claw it back.....just.

factory seconds 2:25 Thu Feb 6
Re: Not just us with a tough run in
maybe we've played a blinder here. enlist the most soul destroying wretch of a manager to take on a stretch of difficult fixtures, then bin him off just as the six pointers come into view and hope that the sheer jubilation of not having to put up with the cunt anymore sees us go on a run just when we need it.

It'll all come down to the Villa game, last match of the season, victor stays up. Shit or Bust.

...and we'll stay up...just
